  • John mediates pre-suit disputes as well as state and federal litigation and arbitration matters. He has an evaluative style as a mediator. John helps the parties evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of their case, identifies interests and crafts novel solutions to problems. He encourages the parties to make a business decision and evaluate resolution by weighing the settlement options available at the end of the day versus the best alternatives available to the parties if they decide not to resolve the case. He believes these principles can be applied to any type of case.

  • John offers his services as a private arbitrator in complex disputes. John works with the parties to customize a framework to allow for the efficient and cost effective resolution of disputes through binding arbitration.

A Note from John:

If you are reading this, it probably means we haven’ t had the opportunity to work together before. You may be wondering if I am the right person to mediate your dispute, so I should tell you a little about my mediation style and philosophy.

I have an evaluative style, and therefore I strive to be prepared on the facts and the law by the time we conduct the mediation session. I think preparation on behalf of the attorneys, the parties, and the mediator can make a real difference as to whether or not a case gets resolved at mediation. If you send me material in advance of mediation, I will make every effort to have read it and to have understood it. By the time we conduct the mediation session, my goal is to know the facts and law as well as the attorneys and their clients.

As a mediator, I endeavor to be flexible. Every case is different, and what works for one case may not work for another. I collaborate with counsel and the parties to determine the best course of action on how each particular mediation is conducted.

My goal for each mediation is to put the parties in the best possible position to resolve their dispute. If a case does not resolve during the mediation session, my objective is to continue to follow up through the litigation process and work with the parties to explore any opportunity to bring the parties’ dispute to resolution prior to final adjudication.
